Vybz Kartel, a Jamaican entertainer and Dancehall legend, will soon get the opportunity to perform on stage with two local artists.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce, the Government of Guyana and the artist’s management team are working together to make this opportunity a reality.

The action comes after Kartel recently visited Guyana and met with a group of local artists and President Irfaan Ali. Kartel promised to include local artists in his next concert as part of his dedication to fostering the development of the Guyanese music scene.
To guarantee an equitable selection procedure, the government has declared open auditions, from which one male and one female performer will be selected according to predetermined standards.
Aspiring artists were received at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre by Oneidge Walrond, Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce, and Kwame McCoy, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister.
All artists who are interested must submit examples of their work as part of the selection procedure. Ten will be picked for a final audition, and the top two performances will be selected from this shortlist.
May 24 is when Kartel is expected to perform in Guyana.
