The development of robust, long-term energy security and climate resilience solutions has been a joint effort between the United States and Caribbean countries since Harris established PACC 2030 in June 2022.
According to a statement, Vice President Harris has met with six heads of state from the Caribbean, including President Irfaan Ali, since the Summit of the Americas. These meetings have strengthened the US alliance with the Caribbean governments “in defense of our shared values, and to improve Caribbean resilience in all aspects – economic, security, and democracy”. the statement said.
Representatives of the opposition, including Opposition Leader and Head of the PNCR Aubrey Norton and Leader of the Alliance For Change Khemraj Ramjattan, met with Joseph Salazar, Special Adviser to US Vice President Kamala Harris, and Michael Taylor, State Deputy Director for Caribbean Affairs, to address matters of mutual concern.
