Guyana has officially launched its new national gold and jewellery brand, “Eldorado Reimagined,” marking a major step in the country’s efforts to transform its gold industry from raw commodity exports to value-added manufacturing and craftsmanship.
The launch, led by the Ministry of Natural Resources, coincided with activities celebrating Guyana’s 60th Independence Anniversary and featured the unveiling of the country’s first-ever Independence commemorative gold medallion minted entirely in Guyana using 100 per cent locally sourced gold.

President Irfaan Ali described the initiative as a historic moment in the nation’s economic and cultural development. He said the launch represented Guyana taking ownership of its resources, identity, and future while demonstrating its ability to refine, manufacture, and export high-quality finished products.
“For generations, our gold largely left these shores as a raw commodity,” Ali said. “Today, we are demonstrating to the world that Guyana is capable of refining, manufacturing, and exporting excellence.”
The president noted that the “Eldorado Reimagined” initiative is intended to position Guyana as a globally recognised centre for premium gold products and jewellery manufacturing, while also expanding opportunities for local artisans and businesses.
Natural Resources Minister Vickram Bharrat said the launch signalled the beginning of a new era for the country’s gold industry. He explained that the initiative reflects a deliberate national strategy to move beyond extraction and create greater economic value within Guyana.
“This brand represents quality, authenticity, and national pride,” Bharrat said. “It is about reshaping the narrative of Guyanese gold and ensuring that more of the value generated from our natural resources remains within our country.”
He also described the commemorative medallion as a powerful national symbol, noting that the gold was mined, refined, designed, and minted entirely in Guyana, an unprecedented achievement for the country’s developing jewellery and manufacturing sector.
The limited-edition medallion, produced in one troy ounce of .999 fine gold, was created to commemorate Guyana’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Each piece carries an individual serial number and highlights the growing craftsmanship and technical capabilities emerging within the local gold industry.
