Jah Cure, whose true name is Siccature Alcock, was found guilty of attempted manslaughter in March 2022 after being found not guilty of attempted murder in October 2021, when a promoter was stabbed because he had not been paid for his performance.
Dutch prosecutors filed an appeal with the court after he was given a six-year sentence, arguing that the attempted murder charge—which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison—should have been dropped.
The vocalist of True Reflections has already encountered legal issues in Jamaica. He was found guilty in 1999 of unlawful gun possession, rape, and robbery with aggravation. He was given a 15-year sentence, which he served for eight years until being released early in 2007.
