“Ain’t nothing wrong with melodies that touch your souls yeah… That’s the positive vibes that we keep creating yeah.” Nearly five years after its debut, reggae artist Chronixx has reached a major career milestone with the certification of his collaboration with R&B band Free Nationals, “Eternal Light,” as Gold in the US. This is the Jamaican singer’s first gold certification in the US. The artiste’s talent and love for the music industry have produced nothing less than excellent tracks that inspire souls to gyrate to a positive vibration.
The certification was given out by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on September 18, 2024. This transpired after the song’s combined sales and streaming in the US surpassed the equivalent of 500,000 units.

The members of Free Nationals, who are most recognized for serving as Anderson Paak’s backup band, are José Ríos on lead guitar, Ron “T.Nava” Avant on keyboards and lead vocals, Kelsey Gonzalez on bass guitar, and Callum Connor on drums.
In October 2019, upon the song’s initial release, Connor expressed gratitude for Chronixx’s involvement, stating, “It was a pleasure to work with Chronixx on ‘Eternal Light’.”
The “Afrodesiac” singer shared, “The melody ideas he comes up with are unlike anyone else. They are different from the usual R&B pop writers we work with.”
Chronoxx’s melancholic vocals in “Eternal Light” meld flawlessly with the Free Nationals’ instrumentals. With lines like “No bad vibes can’t stop this good vibration, yeah / That’s the positive vibes we keep creating, yeah,” his lyrics are full of optimism, love, and good vibrations. The upbeat message of the song is summed up in its chorus, “Forever shining this light / We keep it blazin’, yeah.”
Eternal Light, which was co-written by Avant and Chronixx, was the band’s fourth single off their self-titled first album. It joins Time (with Mac Miller and Kali Uchis) and Beauty and Essex (featuring Daniel Caesar and Unknown Mortal Orchestra), two more Gold-certified tracks from the same project.
In 2021, the album received a nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album.
