Dancehall artist Bounty Killer has humbly asked fellow musicians to join together and show each other greater support outside of the music industry.
The request was recently made as he was giving Shaggy and his “The Bounty Foundation” the $10,000 US check they had cooperated on to treat “Natty Dread” singer Lt. Stitchie, who had suffered a brain hemorrhage and was rendered unconscious. Bounty urged musicians and businesspeople to band together in support of their fellow countrymen during the handover ceremony that was attended by Richie Stephens and Sophia Laing, the wife of Lt. Stitchie.

“We all see that Stitchie needs some help, so I am pleading to the music industry insiders more than the general public, cause this is a problem in the music industry, we don’t come together for each other and that’s very saddening to me,” he stated.
“A whole heap a wi rich as musician, a nuh me alone, anuh Richie alone, di whole a wi rich inna music, and some richer financially than others, we can help each other, mek we do the chain link.”
Paul “Bankey” Giscombe, the manager of Bounty Killer, and PAJ Limited on Constant Spring Road in Kingston worked together to plan the event.
Stitchie’s condition has improved, so there is hope, according to Sophia Laing, who also expressed her gratitude for the contribution.
“We give God thanks for what He’s doing in his life because I know a lot of ugly rumors are going on out there and I want to dispel every single one of them right now, [because] Stitchie is alive and well and he’s recovering greatly. He’s hearing, his eyes are open, he responds to voices that he knows and he is on the road to recovery,” she said.
Cleveland Laing, better known by his professional name, Lieutenant Stitchie, has been dealing with health problems for the past five years, yet he hasn’t stopped working. Earlier this year, a press statement clarified that “his recent medical crisis has significantly worsened his condition, and after receiving all possible treatment in the hospital, he must now be moved to a long-term care facility.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up to all of raising $100,000 US to assist with his medical expenses.
