The Caribbean Research Center of Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn closes out Black History Month with Dr. Julius Garvey, the son of Marcus Garvey as their guest speaker.
Dr. Garvey, who is touring HBCU colleges across the country, made the stop at the Caribbean Research Center named after the Civil Rights leader Medgar Evers, which has a high percentage of diversity towards blacks and Caribbean students.
In the state where his late father was charged with mail fraud, Dr. Garvey, who was first on the 2023 Research Center list of speakers, talked briefly about the many failures in getting his father’s name post-mortem sly exonerated.
Speaking on the topic, “The Influence of Marcus Garvey on Civil Rights and Black Empowerment,” he reminds the audience of about one hundred and fifty, including students, how powerful we are as a race, in reaching our full potential.
