Dancehall artiste Chronic Law has been arrested by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), triggering widespread reaction across the Caribbean entertainment community.
The entertainer, whose real name is Ackeme Jermane Campbell, was taken into custody on Monday, January 12. As of late Wednesday, he remained detained, according to official records.

Chronic Law was the most-streamed artist on YouTube Jamaica in 2025, amassing more than 150 million views. His arrest comes at the height of his career, with several hit singles dominating local and international charts.
ICE, a federal agency operating under the Department of Homeland Security, is responsible for enforcing immigration laws, conducting criminal investigations, and safeguarding national security. Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific reason for Campbell’s detention.
However, public court records show that the artist was arrested in Florida in November 2025 on multiple traffic-related charges. These included attempting to elude a police officer, improper lane changes, reckless driving, speeding and failing to exercise due care while operating a motor vehicle.
Sources close to the entertainer sought to downplay the severity of the situation. One insider stated that the matter was being exaggerated online, adding that there were no firearm-related charges involved.
“The case is not as serious as bloggers are making it out to be,” the source said. “There are no gun charges.”
Meanwhile, a known associate of Chronic Law and fellow entertainer, Radijah Risk, was also arrested in Florida last weekend. Records from the Orange County Corrections Department indicate that he was taken into custody on January 8.
Radijah Risk, whose legal name is Henry Ryan Armstrong, faces serious charges, including possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of cocaine. Arrest reports confirm he remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
The back-to-back arrests of both entertainers have sparked debate on social media, with fans expressing concern and demanding clarity on the circumstances surrounding their detentions.
As of press time, neither Chronic Law’s management team nor ICE officials have issued a formal statement addressing the matter. Supporters continue to monitor developments closely as legal processes unfold.
