Organizers of BZR WKND Jamaica have postponed the festival’s headline concert from October 18 to December 20, following the withdrawal of international rap star Cardi B from the highly anticipated event.
In a statement issued Tuesday, October 13, organizers cited circumstances beyond their control for the postponement and assured patrons that the concert would still take place. They also expressed condolences to Cardi B and her family following the recent death of the rapper’s grandfather.

“One thing is certain: We will not let you down. A show will happen!” the organizers declared, signalling their intention to deliver the event at a later date.
The announcement follows reports last week that Cardi B would no longer perform at the National Stadium in St Andrew, where the concert was expected to be one of Jamaica’s major entertainment attractions for October.
Cardi B subsequently addressed Jamaican fans in a video posted online, apologizing for her inability to appear. She said she had made efforts to fulfil the commitment but that unresolved issues prevented her from proceeding. The rapper also rejected suggestions that poor ticket sales were responsible for her withdrawal.
The cancellation represents a setback for an event promoted as a major international showcase for Jamaican music, entertainment and tourism. Cardi B’s appearance had been anticipated as her first performance in Jamaica and a significant opportunity to attract international attention to the island’s entertainment industry.
The original programme also featured Grammy-nominated R&B singer Keyshia Cole, with dancehall star Spice serving as host. Jamaican performers Ding Dong, Malie Donn, Stalk Ashley and Shaneil Muir were among the artistes announced for the show.
It remains unclear whether the revised December programme will retain the original performers or feature a different line-up. Organizers said a press conference would be held later this week to provide further information.
Patrons who have already purchased tickets will be able to use them for the December 20 staging, according to the organizers. Those seeking refunds may submit their requests by email, although the statement did not provide further details about the process.
The postponement is likely to raise questions among patrons who made travel and accommodation arrangements around the original date. It also places renewed attention on the organizers’ ability to maintain public confidence while restructuring an event that had been marketed as a major addition to Jamaica’s entertainment calendar.
BZR WKND previously brought R&B performer Chris Brown to Jamaica for its 2023 staging. The 2026 edition was planned as an expanded, multi-day celebration of music, culture, fashion, food and tourism.
With the new date approaching in December, further clarification on the headline act, supporting performers and ticket arrangements will be important in determining the event’s next steps.
