A special celebration honoring Law Day was organized in the main jury chamber by the Kings County Supreme Court. The previous administrative judge of the courtroom at 36 Adams Street, Hon. Sylvia Hinds-Radix, gave the keynote presentation during the event. Hon. Lawrence Knipel and Hon. Matthew D’Emic gave a spectacular performance at the event’s conclusion, playing “This Land is Your Land” by Woody Guthrie on acoustic guitars.
Law Day 2023 has as its topic “Cornerstones of Democracy: Civics, Civility, and Collaboration.” It acted as a call to action for all Americans to unite in restoring faith in our institutions, encouraging respect for one another, and working together to address the issues that our country is now facing.

Hon. Tamiko Amaker, Hon. Deborah Kaplan, Hon. Edwina Richardson-Mendelson, Hon. Frank Seddio, and Hon. Nancy Sunshine were among the other speakers, in addition to Hon. Rowan Wilson, the State of New York’s chief judge. The national anthem was performed by Hon. Danny Chun.
