Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. has appointed Andrea Franklin as CEO (BTMI). Franklin has been officially confirmed for the position after what the island’s tourist organization called an “intense recruitment exercise.”
Simultaneously, the firm has promoted UK director Cheryl Carter to the newly-created position of Chief Operating Officer.

Carter, who has worked in the tourist industry for 26 years, will oversee the organization’s operational responsibilities as well as the performance and leadership of all external markets.
In 2019, Carter, as the temporary head of global markets in the UK, succeeded in bringing in the most visitors to Barbados from its main source market.
After five years as country manager at Chukka Caribbean Adventures and five years of employment with the previous Barbados Tourism Authority, Franklin begins her new role on April 1.
Minister of International Travel and Tourism Ian Gooding-Edghill stated: “Ms Franklin is a homegrown, well-educated, and experienced tourism and hospitality practitioner who has come through the ranks to reach the top tourism post in Barbados.”
Gooding-Edghill added, “I instructed the BTMI board to search carefully for someone fit to represent this office and I am satisfied that they have fulfilled their mandate.”
