Domestic violence remains a pressing issue in today’s society, with millions of individuals worldwide suffering at the hands of their partners. Often, victims feel powerless, trapped, and unsure of how to protect themselves. That’s where WeFightBack steps in.
The WeFightBack Organization is a grassroots collective that seeks to instill confidence and essential life skills in domestic violence survivors. This summer, they are hosting a series of complementary boxing classes at Wingate Park from August 5th to August 26th, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. These classes aim to empower survivors and equip them with the knowledge and skills to defend themselves.

We know that domestic violence survivors need resources and a supportive community that understands their struggles,” says MarieDriven, a public figure, and survivor who will be co-hosting the event alongside fitness trainer Seguy Narcisse.
Victims of domestic violence often face unique challenges when seeking help. Among these are the fear of retaliation, the social stigma surrounding abuse, and the lack of adequate support resources. By offering a free and inclusive space for individuals to learn and grow, WeFightBack is lending a much-needed helping hand.
“When I attended my first class with WeFightBack, I felt welcomed and empowered. The classes helped me regain my confidence and start a new chapter in my life,” shares a participant who wishes to remain anonymous.
WeFightBack aims to impact not only individual participants but also the broader community by inspiring others to take charge of their lives and fight back against abuse.
“This program has made me feel stronger, physically and mentally. I am now more than capable of protecting both myself and my children,” shares Kristen Evans, a domestic violence survivor and spokesperson for the organization.
As WeFightBack looks to the future, their goal is to expand their support network beyond boxing classes, increasing community outreach and providing vital resources to domestic violence survivors. They hope their efforts will foster an environment in which people feel secure, resilient, and capable of reclaiming their lives.
“WeFightBack has plans for opening self-defense workshops that cater to individuals of all ages and experience levels. The ultimate objective is to create a global movement that eradicates abuse, uplifts survivors, and ensures personal safety for all,” explains Seguy Narcisse, fitness trainer and advocate.
With their progressive approach to ending domestic violence and commitment to empowering survivors, WeFightBack is making a tangible difference in the lives of many. Their innovative programs, like the upcoming boxing classes, continue to provide a safe space for healing, learning, and growth.
