The US Embassy in Haiti was closed on Tuesday due to rapid gunfire nearby.

The Embassy is closed today. All personnel are restricted to Embassy compounds until further notice due to gunfire in the vicinity of the Embassy. Travel between the compounds is prohibited. Some routes to the Embassy may be impacted due to continued rapid gunfire.
It warned of actions to take – avoid the area; avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people; do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and; if you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.
The latest activity from gang violence includes a New Hampshire nurse and her daughter kidnapped by gang members. They are still missing.
Ongoing violent protests and gang activity have pushed world leaders to create a security force to send to Haiti to help stabilize the situation there.
