On Monday, Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy continued his Jamaican expedition by visiting the iconic Judgment Yard to pay homage to reggae luminary Sizzla Kalonji during his global tour. He hailed the reggae singer as a source of inspiration.
Burna Boy recalled, “…First time I met you, we were in South Africa… I think this must have been 2014 or ‘15–something like that. You were performing and I heard, and I was on the streets this time. I was big and stuff but not big enough to not be in the streets. I went to the show, and I ended up being backstage with you. We spoke in a restaurant type setting and stuff.”

He added, “If you realize, my first album, your face is still in it somewhere so you’ve been a big inspiration to me. So, it’s an honour for me to be here in front of all of you in Sizzla Kalonji’s home.. I appreciate all the love; I feel so at home—more at home than my own home.”
“So, I appreciate you and consider myself a brother…appreciate you, love!”
After his well-attended birthday celebrations in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, over the weekend, with appearances from big names like Asafa Powell, Beenie Man, Byron Messia, Teejay, Tommy Lee Sparta, Skeng, and Laa Lee, the African singer made his way to August Town, accompanied by a convoy and local law enforcement officials.
Departing his vehicle, the infectious beats of Sizzla’s music filled the air, prompting Burna Boy to dance jubilantly. Thereafter warmly greeted Sizzla and his entourage, creating a memorable moment during the exchange.
This trip marks Burna Boy’s second official visit to Jamaica during his global tour. Arriving via a private jet last week, he was welcomed with open arms at the airport. Amid his sojourn, he surprised fans at the renowned Weddy Weddy Wednesdays party in Kingston with an impromptu performance.
