Exactly one month after celebrating its 32nd Branversary, Negril Village hosted its next iconic moment. On Thursday, October 15, The Most Honorable Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica, and The Honorable Oliver Mair linked up in Negril’s Ackee Room, their first time together in New York since Mair took office as Consul General.
Around thirty invited guests joined them, including actor Delroy Lindo, alongside Jamaicans of distinction and lovers of the culture. They broke bread, reasoned, and laughed as family, in true Jamaica in the City style.

“Places like Negril Village have helped Caribbean people in New York feel at home for over 32 years. Prime Minister Holness choosing to go there for a private dinner speaks volumes about its place in our community. This is what I celebrate through Best Dressed Plate: our food, the people behind it, and the spaces that keep us connected,” said Nneka Nurse of Best Dressed Plate.
“For Caribbean people, every link up is a celebration. That’s who we are, connection and celebration, and Negril is where both live,” said Kelly Lee, Caribbean American Culturist and Brand Director of Negril Village. “When it matters, this is where we come. Last night, Jamaica’s leadership came home.”
