The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is investigating a series of bomb threats made against several courts, a government ministry and a shopping plaza across the country, prompting authorities to heighten security and urge the public to remain calm.
Police confirmed on August 19 that they had received at least seven bomb-threat reports through different mediums. The locations identified included the Arima, Princes Town, Chaguanas, Siparia and Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Courts, the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government, and Valpark Shopping Plaza.

Following the reports, the TTPS immediately activated its security protocols and deployed officers to conduct checks at the affected locations. Members of the public were advised to avoid areas where police operations were underway and to follow instructions from law-enforcement personnel.
Authorities have not disclosed whether any explosive devices were found or whether the threats were considered credible. Police said investigations remain ongoing and that additional information would be released when appropriate.
The developments have heightened security concerns in Trinidad and Tobago amid ongoing efforts to address the country’s crime problem. The multiple threats targeting judicial and government facilities have also raised questions about the motive behind the incidents and whether they are connected.
The latest reports come as national security remains a major concern for the government, with authorities continuing to strengthen intelligence gathering and law-enforcement measures to counter criminal activity.
The TTPS has appealed to the public not to panic while investigators work to determine who was responsible for the threats and whether they form part of a coordinated effort.
