Jamaican-born business leader Don Christian is set to receive one of the highest distinctions from Howard University, as he is awarded the President’s Medal of Achievement at the institution’s 158th Commencement Convocation on May 9, 2026.
The prestigious honor recognizes Christian’s decades-long career in global business leadership, as well as his enduring commitment to education and service. In a formal commendation, Wayne A. I. Frederick praised Christian’s impact both professionally and within the university community. He highlighted a career spanning more than 30 years at PwC, where Christian played a key role in advancing business transformation and technological innovation at the highest levels.
A Howard alumnus, Christian graduated in 1990 with a degree in accounting and has remained closely connected to the institution. Since joining the Board of Trustees in 2018, he has served in multiple leadership roles, contributing to strategic decision-making and governance.
Beyond the boardroom, Christian has been instrumental in supporting Caribbean students through the Jamaica Howard University Affinity Network (JHUAN), which he founded. The organization provides scholarships, mentorship, and other resources to Jamaican students pursuing higher education at Howard, efforts that university officials say were central to his selection for the award.
His influence extends well beyond academia. During his 36-year tenure at PwC, Christian held senior leadership positions, including roles on the boards of PwC International and PwC US, advising organizations on risk management, digital transformation, and technology adoption.
In addition to receiving the medal, Christian has also been chosen as the orator for Howard’s Charter Day Convocation, another mark of distinction within the university community.
The celebrations will begin on May 8 with a private reception at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C., honoring Christian and other award recipients.
Reserved for individuals whose careers exemplify excellence, truth, and service, the President’s Medal of Achievement places Christian among a distinguished group of honorees, recognizing not only his professional accomplishments but also his unwavering commitment to uplifting future generations.
