Authorities have arrested and charged a 75-year-old man in connection with the killing of his Guyanese wife, whose remains were discovered months apart in Queens, New York.
Police confirmed that the victim, 34-year-old Salisha Ali, a national of Guyana, had been missing since July 2025. Her husband, Rupchand Simboo, originally from Trinidad and Tobago, was taken into custody on Wednesday after investigators concluded that she had been murdered.

Authorities said Ali was last seen alive on July 13, 2025, the same day Simboo filed a missing persons report claiming that she had disappeared from their home in Queens.
In September 2025, sanitation workers discovered a human torso in another section of Queens. Investigators later determined that the remains belonged to Ali.
The case took a new turn last weekend when the victim’s head was discovered in the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. Authorities were able to positively identify the remains through distinctive tattoos on her body.
Following the discovery, the medical examiner determined that Ali had been killed using a sharp instrument. Based on those findings, police arrested Simboo and charged him in connection with her death.
Investigators had previously questioned Simboo’s account of his wife’s disappearance. However, the arrest was made only after forensic evidence confirmed that the death was the result of a homicide.
According to police, Ali and Simboo first met in Trinidad and Tobago in 2023. Ali relocated to New York City in 2024to live with Simboo, and the couple married later that same year.
Authorities have not yet disclosed a possible motive for the killing. The investigation remains ongoing.
