Under a partnership of multiple law enforcement agencies in what has been dubbed the Fusion Centre, Jamaica and the United States have enhanced their national security-related cooperation.
The Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigations Branch, National Intelligence Bureau, Financial Investigations Division, and the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency of the Jamaica Constabulary Force will get resources, knowledge, and information from US law enforcement agencies under the agreement, which was established on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, to help them better identify, prevent, look into, and deal with transnational crime.

The alliance will assist the Jamaican government’s all-encompassing effort to protect the nation from criminal threats or weaknesses.
The US Government’s support for combating international crime, particularly the problem of lottery scamming, was reaffirmed when Gary Barksdale, chief postal inspector of the US Postal Inspection Service, visited Jamaica for the launch.
N Nick Perry, the US ambassador to Jamaica, expressed his support for the initiative at the reception marking the launch, saying, “we at US Embassy Kingston, and I’m sure all our Jamaican partners, welcome this collaborative spirit and applaud the vision of merging the different agencies into a Fusion Centre”.
The deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. Horace Chang, and the police commissioner, Major General Antony Anderson, were also there.
