U.S. Senator Cory Booker is officially a married man. The New Jersey Democrat wed fiancée Alexis Lewis in two ceremonies held days apart, marking a deeply personal milestone the couple described as filled with gratitude and joy.
Booker, 56, and Lewis, 38, announced their marriage in a joint post on Instagram on November 30, sharing that they exchanged vows “in two places that shaped us.”

The couple first tied the knot on November 24 in a private civil ceremony at the Newark courthouse, where both sets of parents served as witnesses, according to The New York Times. Five days later, they held a second, more intimate celebration in Washington, D.C., followed by a small family reception.
Booker and Lewis met in May 2024 through a mutual friend. Their first date in Washington was so successful that Booker persuaded her to delay her flight to New Jersey so they could see each other again. Lewis later joked to the Times that she now lives by the motto she shares with her girlfriends: “Change your flight, change your life.”
She added that marriage had once seemed unlikely. “After so many years on my own, I’m not entirely sure I believed I would get married. But now, we’ve found each other at this stage of our lives, after epic personal journeys. And that deserves celebration.”
Booker echoed those sentiments when he announced their engagement in September, describing Lewis as “one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life” and expressing gratitude for the support from friends, family, and well-wishers.
Booker previously dated actress Rosario Dawson from 2019 to 2022. Lewis, an investments director, now joins him in what both describe as the beginning of a joyful new chapter.
