Bridgid Annisette-George, Speaker of the House, declared that Kangaloo had won the majority of the votes cast.
The Government received 39 votes, including two presiding officers and votes from the House and Senate totaling 23 and 16, respectively. 19 votes from the House and 6 from the Senate made up the Opposition’s total of 25 votes. Nine senators who were independents cast their ballots.
The ballots were secret and cast in alphabetical order. Following the vote, the Clerk of the House read each ballot aloud while simultaneously displaying it to the scrutineers Davendranath Tancoo and Lisa Morris-Julian.
Kangaloo would be given an instrument, according to Annisette-George. She stated that the Chief Justice will administer the oath of office and administer Kangaloo’s oath of office.
