Fayval Williams, a member of parliament for St Andrew East Rural, has been appointed by Prime Minister Andrew Holness to succeed Dr. Nigel Clarke as the finance minister of Jamaica.
Senator Dr. Dana Morris Dixon, a minister without a portfolio in the prime minister’s office who oversees information, skills, and digital transformation, will take over from William’s position as minister of education.

Meanwhile, newly elected St. Ann North Eastern Member of Parliament Matthew Samuda rejoins the Cabinet as a Minister without a portfolio in the Ministry of Job Creation and Economic Growth.
Williams is a highly competent candidate for the role. In addition to her BA (cum laude) in Economics from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and her MBA with a finance focus from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School, she is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
