Jamaica’s Order of Distinction awards will be presented during a ceremony at King’s House on October 21 this year, which coincides with National Heroes Day. 150 Jamaicans were announced on Independence Day as recipients of national honors for 2024.
Among this year’s honorees are entertainers Nadine Sutherland, Glendon ‘Admiral Bailey’ Bailey, Rodney ‘Bounty Killer’ Price and Moses ‘Beenie Man’ Davis. They will be invested with the Order of Distinction (Officer Class) for their contribution to the development of Jamaican music.

Government minister Edmund Bartlett will be honored with the prestigious Order of Jamaica for his contribution to the field of tourism promoting human resource sustainability and climate resilience and for 40 years in the public service.
Deputy Prime Minister Chang will also receive the Order of Jamaica for his contribution to public service and politics, including his over 31 years of representational politics.
Along with Bartlett and Chang, six others are set to receive the Order of Jamaica. They are Professor Wendel Abel, Gary “Butch” Hendrickson, Audrey Marks, William ‘Billy’ Shaghoury, Lyttleton ‘Tanny’ Shirley and Senator Donald Wehby.
Commissioner of Police Dr Kevin Blake for his service to national security and public safety; Hansle Parchment for his exceptional achievement to athletics; and businessman Wayne Chen for his contribution to public service and entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile, Dr Claire Grant will also be awarded the Order of Distinction (Officer Class) for service in journalism and media and communications.
There are 38 honorees in this year’s Order of Distinction (Commander Class).
