The West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA), the organizer of the massive, Brooklyn-based Carnival Parade on Brooklyn’s Eastern Parkway on Labor Day Monday, on Sunday announced prominent Trinidadian-born lawyer Roger V. Archibald as its new president.
WIADCA has appointed three new Board Members – Vincentian Andrew Maloney, Esq. (chairperson), Dr. Ionie Pierce (treasurer), and Jelani Deshong, bringing the board members to 11.

Furthermore, WIADCA has also appointed Ann Marie Adamson, Franklyn Edwards, Esq., Jennifer Joseph, Garcia Daley, CPA, and Lamont Joseph (2nd term) as members of its Advisory Committee.
WIADCA stated that these new and returning members bring years of formidable experience in the areas of legal, strategic partnerships, corporate responsibility, finance, entertainment, and government affairs to support the organization and its goals.
Roger V. Archibald, the founder and lead litigator at Roger Victor Archibald, PLLC. He was born in San Fernando, the Southern “Capital” of the Twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, in the Caribbean. In 1975, he migrated to the United States with his family, and settled in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, New York where he attended the Boys and Girls High School and graduated at the top 1% of his class.
He has over 33 years of experience as a civil rights and criminal law litigator, successfully navigating matters in both New York State and Federal Courts. In 2006, he was admitted to the Jamaican Bar, making him eligible to practice in any Commonwealth Jurisdiction. He also served as legal counsel to the Government of St. Lucia and the Government of Grenada. He is currently engaged as legal counsel to United States Representative Yvette D. Clarke, (D,NY), of the 9th Congressional District, and the New York State Senator, Kevin Parker.
He has received several awards in recognition of his commitment of service to the community.
Archibald expressed his excitement about this “full circle moment” and his honor to lead such a legacy-driven organization, hoping to contribute to its long-term vision and sustainability for generations to come.
Maloney, who has served as an attorney with more than 30 years of experience in the areas of family, real estate, employment, and trusts and estate law, shared his pride and humility in accepting the honor of leading this illustrious organization, building on the legacy established by its founders and the new goals set by its current members.
