An 18-year-old teenager from Georgia, Madison Crowell, has garnered an astounding $15 million in scholarship approvals from 231 universities. Her motivation stemmed from wanting to demonstrate to others that they too could gain acceptance into any college they desired. Despite numerous options, Crowell opted for High Point University in North Carolina, citing it as one of her best decisions yet.
Crowell’s journey began with visits to universities in middle school, nurtured by her parents. Despite facing some rejections, including from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Tulane University, Crowell remains resilient, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a positive outlook and seeking healthy outlets for managing stress.

In an interview with Good Morning America, Crowell shared, “I wanted to apply to as many schools as I did…because I’m coming from a low-income area of Georgia and so I want to show the kids here in Liberty County that it’s possible to get accepted into not only just local schools like Georgia Southern [University] and Savannah [Technical College], but that you can get accepted into schools like the University of Alabama and University of Colorado and [schools] that you think might be out of your reach but is definitely in reach.”
Her decision to attend High Point University, where she plans to pursue a science degree and eventually a doctorate in physical therapy, has been met with enthusiasm from the university’s president, Nido Qubein, who anticipates her making exceptional contributions. Crowell’s success serves as an inspiration, particularly for her hometown of Liberty County, where a significant portion of the population lives in poverty.
Qubein said, “We welcome you to our HPU family. You’re going to do exceptional things right here at The Premier Life Skills University, where we call everybody to be extraordinary. The sky is not the limit…and when you come here to High Point University, we know you’ll be a leader. We know you’ll make amazing things happen. We’re here to resource her, cheer you on and celebrate you victory.”
