Comparing this to the previous year, there have been 24 more murders.

The most recent figures showed that 1,474 murders were committed in 2021.
This number differs from statistics previously made public by the JCF, which claimed that 1,463 homicides were reported in 2017.
The police department has not yet provided our news team with an answer on the disparity.
According to the statistics from 2022, St. James has the highest murder rate, with 198 homicides, followed by St. Catherine North with 145, Westmoreland with 140, St. Andrew South with 131, and St. Catherine South with 113.
With 14, Portland had the fewest homicides.
Rape, wounded people, and shootings all saw decreases from the previous year.
But in 2022, there were more robberies and break-ins.
