Machel Montano, a soca sensation, has advanced to the 2024 Calypso Monarch semifinals. The legendary Soca performer made his stage debut at the Dimanche Gras in 1986 at the age of twelve. Since then, he has won ten Road March titles and six Soca Monarch titles.
Before this year’s Carnival, “The Road” singer had stated that he would not be participating since he was finishing up his master’s degree in Carnival Arts at UTT.

Montano recently released his new song, “Soul of Calypso.”
Montano is one of the forty competitors who have advanced to the semifinals, which will be held on February 3 at Skinner Park in San Fernando.
The much-liked 2024 release “D.N.A.” by singer, songwriter, and producer Mical Williams (Mical Teja) is expected to rival it as well.
With the release of his well-known song “Hall of Fame,” the Gonzalez, Belmont native experiences a breakthrough year.
Helon Francis, Karen Asche, Kurt Alleyne, Roderick Gordon, Terry Lyons, and Gypsy are among the other previous Calypso Monarchs competing in the Calypso.
With his performance of “Sing Hallelujah,” Duane Ta’zyah O’Connor—son of 2012 winner Duane O’Connor—won the 2023 championship.
In 2023, Asche came in third, followed by Gordon in fourth, Lyons in sixth, and Francis in ninth.
Ezekiel Yorke, Heaven Charles, and Mark Eastman are among the 2024 competitors who participated in the 2023 final.
