A three-day pilot sickout at Caribbean Airlines Ltd. in August caused thousands of customers’ travel schedules to be interrupted. To negotiate a pilots’ collective agreement, CAL contacted the Trinidad and Tobago Airline Pilots Association (TTALPA) on September 1, 2015, and ended on August 31, 2018. The counterproposal of ten percent, according to Labor Minister Stephen McClashie, was unreasonable given CAL’s financial situation and the national average, which TTALPA saw to be a “troubling sign of bias.”
Furthermore, CAL resubmitted their August 15, 2023, proposal, which the pilots rejected when Finance Minister Colm Imbert suggested that the parties resume talks. The issue hasn’t been resolved yet.
