KINGSTON, Jamaica – Through the effective synergistic coordination of its air and marine capabilities, the Jamaica Defence Force’s (JDF) Maritime Air and Cyber Command claims to have successfully intercepted a ship carrying about 2,000 pounds of cocaine.
Three Jamaicans, who were on the go-fast boat, were apprehended and are undergoing processing, the JDF said in a release on Monday. On December 26 at around 4:15 am, the interdiction took place in Jamaican territorial waters.

The army claims that the 19 sizable packages of cocaine that allegedly originated from South America had a street worth of J$1.1 billion.
According to the JDF, all pertinent and competent agencies have been alerted about the bust as the investigation process progresses. Additionally, the army said it will maintain its vigilance in “protecting Jamaica’s blue economy through its collaborative operational capabilities both in the aerial and maritime spaces throughout the day and night.”
