As we look to the new year, we should pause to reflect on where we are now, and what steps we need to take to move forward. I see a resurgence of the Covid pandemic; that’s one of the many challenges we face in the New Year.
We have seen an increase in white supremacists in the United States of America and a growing number of incidents of hate. We have seen the possibility of inflation and the rise in the price of all the key items that we need, food, gas, and, essential things we need to function
We are witnessing climate change, personal liberties attacked, and unnecessary violence all around us.
So, we need to pause as we face this new year and take stock of what is really important in life. Let go of the old and embrace the new. Resolutions of personal transformation; eating better, exercising more, losing weight, stop smoking, meditating more, maybe take charge of our mental health, better sleep, etc. All of these are important, and we know they are subject to being discarded, but it is good to reflect and to decide what is in our best interest and our best health.
And then as a people and as a community. We need to take resolutions to improve our society in general. We need to rid ourselves of a justice system that has been discriminatory and unfair to our citizens who have suffered from it. We need to look for fair and equitable immigration policies, ones that are faced laced with humanitarian ideas so all can have the possibility of success. We need to focus on and resolve voter suppression so that we as individuals and people can be a part of a democracy, and our voices can be heard.
We need to expedite and accelerate the climate change programs to save the earth and save our people. We need to look at the United States of America and turn a new leaf with respect to hate and racism, and we need to be resolved to have an economic system of equality.
And equity for all. We need to bring this awareness to the new year as we face it, and look to new hope and be resolved in our planning, personal and communal. Around these issues, we have been raised to be resilient and determined to make a difference in our own lives but also give back and empower each of our communities and eventually the world.
A better year and a greater society, and we need to stay on track. We need to stay on track with these resolutions. They, they’re not going to be easy. They never were, but we as a people must be resolved. To bring to fruition the resolutions we make, personal con, communal, there is just too much at stake for us not to understand how and what we must.
To cast a pathway for our people as we look to the new year and plan accordingly.
There is so much to look forward to in 2023.
It is essential for us to keep in mind all the lessons we have learned, to look at all the challenges we face, and to plan and be resolved to meet these challenges. The new normal is up to us as a people and the country and the world. It is up to us through our own resolution and resilience to make a conscious effort to ensure a better world for each and every one.
Happy New Year! Happy 2023! Let us be resolved to make it a truly happy New Year.
