BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) — Barbados is to mount a trade mission to Cuba next month as the island seeks to take advantage of the new opportunities being afforded in the Caribbean communist country, Industry Minister Donville Inniss has said.
Inniss, who met with Cuba’s Ambassador to Barbados Francisco Fernandez Peña on Tuesday, said that the mission will comprise government and private officials.
He gave no date for the visit, but added that from the month of May, Bank Breweries Limited will be seeking to export approximately one million cases of beer to Cuba.
Inniss said that apart from forging deeper economic relations with Cuba, the Freundel Stuart Administration was also eager to engage robustly in trade, and there were a number of companies ready to do business with the Spanish-speaking country.
The Cuban diplomat said that since establishing diplomatic relations in December 1972, the two countries have maintained a cordial relationship characterized by cooperation and mutual respect.
